The Ladies of St. Therese will hold their monthly meeting on Monday, May 5, 2025, beginning at 6:00 p.m. in the social hall. Tracy Decker will arrive at 5:00 p.m. to make rosaries for the troops. Anyone who is interested in participating is welcome. Also, the ladies ask anyone who attends the meeting to bring a donation of unscented feminine hygiene items to support Help End Period Poverty. Also, everyone who signed up to bring items for the nursing home birthday gifts needs to drop off their items at this meeting.
Our guest speaker for the meeting is Courtney Bass, Doctor of Nurse Practitioners in Palliative Medicine at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital who will discuss the differences between palliative and hospice care. The Ladies of St. Therese are sponsoring a tour of the Basilica of St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception in Norfolk, Virginia for Friday, May 9, 2025. Via carpooling, we will leave the Church of St. Therese at 9:15 a.m. and travel to the Basilica of St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception for a tour and history lesson and attend weekday mass. Then we will dine at one of Norfolk’s many restaurants. Finally, we will return to the parish before 3:30 p.m., barring any traffic snarl ups.
“The Basilica of St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception is the oldest parish community in the Diocese of Richmond (1791) and the current building was constructed in 1858. In 1991 the Church of St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception became a minor basilica, the only African American basilica in the United States. More information about its history can be found on their website at www.basilicaofsaintmary.org. If anyone is interesting in joining us or has any questions, please contact Theresa Conley at [email protected] or 757-535-7612.
